My thoughts:
Have you ever read a book just because you want to catch up with the characters. That is the way that I am with the Ivy Beasley series. I love how witty and sassy Ivy is and how she doesn't take any junk from anyone. She is a smart old lady who will stand up for what is right even if it goes against the grain. The reader can't help but love her and her ways. I was excited to see that in this book Ivy and Roy have set a date for the impending marriage and I hope the next in the series will allow us to actually read about the wedding and not skip over it.
Ivy is planning a wedding. A low-key simple affair, but a wedding nonetheless. Roy proposes that his dubious nephew, Steven Wright be his best man and Ivy is none too thrilled. She sees Steven for what he really is, a money grubbing no-good-for-nothing type of guy who is just after Roy's considerable fortune. Roy doesn't exactly care for the fellow either, but family is family and he is the only living relation Roy has left. Ivy reluctantly agrees, but the problem takes care of itself when Steven is found dead in a bed at the furniture shop where he works. Ivy is determined to solve the case before she becomes a victim and the wedding is called off.
I enjoyed this book, mainly because it was catching up with some interesting characters. The mystery in this one was so-so and nothing too special and a little easy to figure out. Not the best in the series, but it could have been a lot worse. This is one of those series that I have to read regardless just because I like the characters and the content isn't really stellar, but I'm really not looking for that either. A good addition to a likeable series, but not one that I would start reading without reading the previous books in the series as the reader might be a little confused without all the back story.
