In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

If you have not read Of Poseidon, please, DO NOT READ THE SUMMARY. NOT EVEN THE FIRST SENTENCE. This is the reason why I NEVER read summaries or reviews. Yup. I buy a book just by knowing the genre and the title. This review will not contain spoilers of the first book whatsoever. After the shocking revelation in the first book, and the mean cliff hanger, Of Triton continues on with more action packed, and under the water scenes which I really enjoyed! We also get to meet a lot of new characters in this  book. Character development is an important factor in books, and this one definitely has it. I love love love all of the characters in this book, and the author did an amazing job giving her characters their own voice.

Rachel and Toraff are still funny, Rayna is still a kick-ass character, Galen and Emma are still such bold and confident characters. What’s not to love above these characters? They made me laugh especially Toraff. There was also this guy in the book who kicked a tiger shark. I mean, why would you do that? xD I just had to share that. That part just made me laugh.

In this book, there is chaos in the kingdom of Triton between Grom (Galen’s brother) and Jagen – a Syrena that has a daughter who claims to have the gift of Poseidon. Some of the Syrenas believe that Paca, Jagen’s daughter, really has the gift of Poseidon, but others  thinks that she doesn’t have the gift and just learned a trick from the humans.

For me, I enjoyed reading Of Triton than Of Poseidon because in the first book was kind of an introduction to the whole Triton and Poseidon kingdom and had a lot of romance stuff. In this book, there was definitely more action packed scenes with tons of twists that made my jaw drop. We also finally get to I really recommend this book if you’re into mermaids or if you’re looking for a great summer read.
