One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I know I just did a Series Selection yesterday, where I took all the sequels and just did mini-reviews for them.
And I know that Insurgent is a sequel, to the wonderful book called Divergent.
Yes, I know. I just felt that Insurgent was much too important and amazing to write a review in less than 300 characters. Thus, I am making this review, but it will be short, and probably very confusing for everyone.
First off, let's start out with saying this: OH MY GOSH. Tris is awesome. Four is awesome. Those Divergent people are awesome. Insurgent is awesome. It's a fantastic addition to Divergent, and thankfully most of the stuff was still stuck in my head from when I read Divergent last year. So you can tell I just dived right into this one!
So you all know in Divergent, Tobias/Four was all like: AWWW, TRIS. I LOVE YOUUUUU.Well in Insurgent he's all: Dude. Tris. Stop trying to kill yourself, or we're done.Yeah, I wasn't too happy with that. But it did make for some good drama!
The characters are the best thing in this novel, after the plot. I love how much Tris grew and embraced each part of her being Divergent! Tobias/Four definitely stepped up his act in this one, and I really loved how some of the supporting characters from Divergent really got into the plans and became semi-major characters! My other favorite part with these characters is how the roles switched between the two books. Characters that were bad became good, and some characters that were good became bad. Of course, there's some characters that still remained evil throughout the series, but still - I thought the contrast was cool!
When my mom saw that I grabbed this book out of the pile, she told me there's no way I would finish it. I only had a couple hours to read, and she knew I wanted to sit down and read Insurgent in one sitting. "Psh, mom. It's Insurgent. Come on." She looked at me like I was crazy, and guess what: I finished this baby in 5 hours, and I had another hour to spare before I would have to stop reading!
Final observation: Veronica Roth is a goddess.
