REVIEW: Global Knives – Thanks Everten for Changing My Kitchen Life

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

I was already a huge fan of Everten before I was approached to review their Global Knives Set. Everten changed the way I cleaned my house with the White Magic Spin Mop I purchased a few years ago and now it has changed my kitchen life for the better! Besides cutting my kitchen time in half (excuse the pun), I love the super slick knife storage block which matches my kitchen perfectly.

REVIEW: Global knives – thanks Everten for changing my kitchen life

The Global Synergy Knife Block Set which is valued at $955 is currently available on Everten for $349. This block includes the following Global knives:

  • 8cm Paring Knife GSF-15
  • 11cm Utility Knife GS-22
  • 13cm Cook's Knife GS-3
  • 14cm Vegetable Knife GS-5
  • 20cm Cook's Knife G-2
  • 22cm Bread Knife G-9

I've always watched my mum peel fruit with great envy as I could never master peeling them as close to the skin as she does without a peeler. I surprised myself this week with the 8cm paring knife which like all the other Global knives in the set, was super light, sharp and easy to handle. I usually cut in half and "scoop out" the flesh of mangoes and kiwi fruit rather than peeling them with a knife, that is until I was introduced to Global. Timing couldn't have been better as junior burger has just started prekindy and I get a little bit excited about cutting fruits beautifully for her morning tea box 🙂

My hands are also no longer sore since using my new Global Vegetable Knife to cut pumpkin and although I still don't enjoy cutting pumpkin into 1cm pieces it has made this tedious weekly chore a lot quicker. If you have any tips on cutting pumpkin send them my way! It is such a shame that my Thermomix or ThermoCook can't dice vegetables into little 1cm squares for me!

Might need to start heading to the gym for strength training 😉

After putting my new Global knifes to work this month, I have no hesitation in confirming their claim as being the the finest knives from Japan. It is no surprise given they are made from Cromova 18 stainless steel which is then ice tempered and hardened to Rockwell C56° - 58°.

Only downside is that you have to wash and dry all the Global knives straight away otherwise rust develops. I find other knives have a better resistance to rust. Not sure about you but I struggle to clean as I cook in the kitchen and I do let dishes dry on the rack vs drying them by hand.
