Review: Blameless by Gail Carriger

Review: Blameless by Gail Carriger Description (from cover):
'Quitting her husband's house and moving back in with her horrible family, Lady Maccon becomes the scandal of the London season.
Queen Victoria dismisses her from the Shadow Council, and the only person who can explain anything, Lord Akeldama, unexpectedly leaves town. To top it all off, Alexia is attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, indicating, as only ladybugs can, the fact that all of London's vampires are now very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead.
While Lord Maccon elects to get progressively more inebriated and Professor Lyall desperately tries to hold the Woolsey werewolf pack together, Alexia flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they know enough about the preternatural to explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than the vampires--and they're armed with pesto.
Blameless is the third book of the Parasol Protectorate series: a comedy of manners set in Victoria London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles and tea-drinking.'
My thoughts:
I think that perhaps this book in the series has been one of my favorites. I am not sure if it is all the action or the extreme circumstances that surround Alexia in this novel. We learn a little more about her and her past and just what makes her a preternatural. There was a twist ending that I didn't see coming and it was a nice little overall twist in the series. Of course, that left me putting every other book I need to be reading on hold as I can't stop this series now. I'm too invested and I must see this through until the very end. I absolutely adore the characters and their quirks and the imaginary world Carriger has created.
Alexia finds herself in somewhat dire circumstances (I'm trying to be vague due to spoilers) and she must suddenly flee England. Of course, nothing is what it seems and everyone is out to get Alexia and make sure that she doesn't take another breath. Using the trusty parasol and her friends to help her out in strenuous circumstances, she of course, seems to always land on her feet. No one is what they seem and Alexia must use her instincts before she makes a deadly mistake. Traveling through Europe with a never-ending sense of safety wears on one's soul (if you have one) and with danger lurking around every corner, Alexia must rely on her good sense to save the day and herself.
I love this series and the characters almost feel like family at this point. Only have two more books left in this series and then I'm done. I think once I get to the ending, I will be sad to see such a great series end. The thing that I love about this series as well, is that the books never are stale. They are always fresh and have an abundance of action and drama. These books are so hard to put down. I am anxiously reading the next one in this series and with each turn of the page, it puts me closer to the end, but still I can't get enough.
