Review and Giveaway:{Sun Scholars Summer Program}

By Smilinglikesunshine @smilinglikesuns
Today I want to introduce you with my friend Rachel over at Sun Scholars blog. She is  a certified teacher and mom of  three and has created an educational Summer Program.
Rachel created this program when she found herself overwhelmed by trying to prepare activities for her children whilst juggling all the chores that need to be done at home.
The Sun Scholars Summer Program consists of 12 week worth of activities. Each week consists of approximately 20 activities, four for each day, centered around a particular theme. There are  ½ page activity cards, each explaining the activities and suggestions on how to adapt them to your own child’s needs. Each week  also have a list of supplies for handy reference, many of which you are already around your home.
Rachel sent us a copy of the program to download and we tried out  some of the activities with Defne(5yo).

We made these little books about  My Home, My School (not pictured) and Details of Me.
The Program consists of all kinds of activities that are both educational and fun. There are loads of activities from music to maths, from literacy to cooking.
The Program Includes the Following Themed Weeks:
- Week 1: Getting Started- Week 2: Mail Mania- Week 3: Animal Fun- Week 4: Mice, Cookies & More- Week 5: The Great Outdoors- Week 6: Beach Party- Week 7: Secret Agents in Training- Week 8: Fun With Fairytales- Week 9: Space Explorers- Week 10: Back to School- Week 11: Hocus Pocus- Week 12: Incredible ME
What I really like about the program is that it comes complete with a weekly supply list, so I can arrange the materials before hand. Most of them are easily found in every home anyway. And then there are suggestions to tailor the activity for your own child depending on their age.

I put together this Me Book Kit one afternoon when Derin was napping. Then we went trough each of them together and Defne filled each book on her own while I was cooking the dinner. She asked for help when she needed. She LOVES writing so enjoyed doing these.
I like that  Rachel's Summer Program offers playful learning activities that are easy to implement. We will definitely be doing the rest of the themes over the summer.
