Review: Alpen Light Banoffee Bars
I've been on the look out for the new Alpen Light Banoffee for a few weeks now - is it just me or are these really hard to find? There is also another fairly new flavor Alpen Light Jaffa Cake which I still haven't been able to track down.
Review: Alpen Light Banoffee Bars
I usually keep a couple of packs of Alpen Light Cherry Bakewell and Lemon Drizzle bars in the house just because they are quite low in calories for such a sweet treat. Unfortunately, the Banoffee flavor was ultimately a disappointing one as the dominate flavor is of the sugary sweet toffee rather than banana or even "banoffee". I'm not actually a fan of toffee as a flavor on it's own so I mostly found these bars overly sweet and cloying. The banana flavor comes through weakly in the form of little banana chips, of which there wasn't enough. I would have preferred a lot less of the toffee pieces and more of the banana chips. Having said that, they are still a pleasant enough sweet treat as long as I have a strong coffee to hand!
