The Platte Valley Fire Protection District offers full testing services for the position of Firefighter/EMT through National Testing Network, Inc.
To fill out an application and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Fire and sign up for the Platte Valley Fire Protection District.
What to expect at the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:
- Completion of the application process
(A separate paper application will also need to be completed for the District)
- Review all information related to the Platte Valley Fire Protection District Firefighter/EMT position, including minimum requirements, salary and benefits.

Upon completion of the entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the Platte Valley Fire Protection District. Those candidates not receiving a passing score, will not be permitted to continue in the hiring process.
The Platte Valley Fire Protection District requires the following scores on the FireTEAM exam to be considered for hiring:
- Human Relations: 75%
- Mechanical: 65%
- Reading: 70%
- Math: 70%
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the Platte Valley Fire Protection’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to Platte Valley Fire Protection District where the final decisions are made.
Department Overview: Single district in Weld County covering over 220 square miles in a mixed agricultural, oil & gas community with an active highway and river nearby. We have mutual aid agreements with several surrounding districts which gives us an opportunity to run a wider spectrum of call types. We have a variety of special ops teams to work with as well as an ambulance stationed 24 hours. We offer room for growth and opportunities for many interests.

Job Classification: Reserve Firefighter/EMT
Platte Valley Fire Protection District is is currently hiring for Reserve Firefighter/EMT. All documents and testing must be completed by 4:30PM MST Monday June 4th, 2018. This position requires FireTEAM testing. Platte Valley Fire Protection District requires candidates to fill out their application, found here.
The following documents are also required to be included in your application packet (If you fail to include any of the documents your application packet will be considered incomplete and will not be considered):
1. District Application.
2. Cover Letter & Resume.
3. Copy of High School Diploma/GED or College Degree.
4. Copy of Colorado Firefighter I Certification (or higher).
5. Copy of Colorado Hazardous Material Operations Certification or (or higher).
6. Copy of National Registry EMT and/or Colorado EMT Certificate (or Paramedic).
7. Copy of Current Valid CPR Card (& ALS Card if Paramedic).
8. Copies of Pertinent Certificates (Red Card, Blue Card, Swift Water, etc.)

High School Grad/GED: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Have good vision in both eyes, with the ability to distinguish colors, such those like Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) color codes for hazardous materials (e.g., blue, red, yellow, white), and have no depth or peripheral vision impairment

The minimum certification requirements for a Full-Time Firefighter/EMT are:

- IV Certification
- NIMS 100, 200, 700 (online courses)

Note: The “preferred certifications” are not required to apply for a Firefighter/EMT position. The applicant would need to obtain these certifications within a designated amount of time after hire.

Hiring Process:

- Shift Ride Along(working interview)

The Platte Valley Fire Protection District requires the following scores on the FireTEAM exam to be considered for hiring:
- Human Relations: 70%
- Mechanical: 60%
- Reading: 80%
- Math: 70%
- Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors:Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers

In possession of or have the ability to obtain a valid state Colorado driver’s license. The demonstrated ability to drive safely from a satisfactory driving record.Drug Use Disqualifiers
