These charts reflect the results of a recent CNN / SSRS Poll -- done between September 6th and 9th of a national sample of 1,003 adults, with a 3.8 point margin of error.
It shows the most serious problem that Republicans face in the November midterm elections. They are losing the support of women, and they don't have enough support from men to offset that.
Among likely voters, the Republicans have a 5 point advantage among men. That is dwarfed though by the 24 point advantage that Democrats have among women. Results are similar among all registered voters -- with Republicans and Democrats equal among men and Democrats having a 23 point advantage among women.
That would be disastrous for Republicans if men and women voted in equal numbers, but they don't. Women vote in larger numbers than men do. And this poll is not an outlier. Poll after poll shows Democrats with a large advantage among women voters.
A reasonable person might think Republicans would see this and moderate their anti-woman policies. But they haven't. This week's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing makes that clear.
