DESIGN
These are white and have a sprung 'air' plate inbetween the clamp which are ceramic black titanium. The straighteners have five heat settings ranging from 150 - 230 degrees.
ABOUT
The idea of these having suspended plates is to allow you more control of the straightener. These have a 'springy' feel when you're using them and have 'cool' outer plates, meaning you can wave a very fond farewell to burning your hands!
These also heat up within 15 seconds. Long gone are the days of waiting half an hour for straighteners to reach their temperature - ahh Millenials will never know the struggle!
THOUGHTS
These definitely are smooth and glide through the hair. I like that I don't need to wait for ages for these to heat up and if I leave them on the worktop without a heat mat, it's not the end of the world thanks to the cool outer plates.
I used them to create curls, hollywood style volume and straighten my hair - these definitely fit the bill in terms of capability.
With everything, there is a downside. The downside to these for me is that I found some of my hair was dragging underneath the suspended plates. I'm sure if I sectioned my hair properly I wouldn't have the issue but I did notice it both when I was straightening my hair and curling it which wasn't ideal.
The other thing is that because the outer plates don't get hot, you often wonder if they're turned on - haha! I checked a good 2/3 times the first few times I used them, but you do get used to it after a few uses.
OVERALL
I like them! The Remington Air Plates are not your average, bog standard straightener. They really are unlike any others I've used before and I look forward to seeing other new releases from the brand.
