School's out and the holidays are in! While I'm definitely too old to qualify for a school break, we could not resist the much-needed short getaway with Resorts World Genting and their exciting performance lineup.. Ice Age Collision Course Attraction and the Power Rangers Live Show! A chance to relive my childhood...yes please!
In anticipation for the upcoming, best-selling animated movie Ice Age: Collision Course, visitors are now able to take this chance to find out more about the new film release in a fun and interactive way. Scrat, the clueless weasel character has lost his way and the aim is to complete quests to send him home!
The station was creatively designed to resemble the inside of a space ship, complete with a control area as well as 3 puzzle activity areas. Apart from using your knowledge of the movie and characters, the puzzles also test your general knowledge and how agile your reflexes are! TIP: you can gleam most of the info on the display walls outside!
Here's Ben trying his best to maneuver the 360 degree rotating puzzle; the aim is to get the rolling silver ball into a U-shaped pocket. But its not as easy as it look, you'll need to turn sharply or gently roll it into the desired direction.
Match the correct names to the planet models! I must say Science class was a loooong time ago, so this was abit of a challenge.
But that's not all: get to meet the characters from the movie! Here I am with Crash and Eddie as they send their greetings from the cool peaks of Genting Highlands! They will be available for photo opportunities from July : 5 – 10, 11.30am / 1.30pm / 2.30pm /5.30pm
And you'll stand a chance to win Ice Age: Collision Course movie premiums worth up to RM3, 000 when you complete the challenges by sharing your spacetastic adventure with us Resorts World Genting Facebook!

Lunch time calls! Next up on the itinerary was Food Factory, a newly-refurnished restaurant serves a wide array of West Asian, East Asian and Western cuisines. I spied with my hungry eyes steaming dim sum, Malaysian local dishes like nasi lemak, burgers and traditional Indian curry dishes.
Very contemporary area, well-lit and welcoming in the afternoon sun
Plus they have on the spot cutting stations to ensure you have a fresh cut of the newly cooked meat offerings! Also help yourselves to the free-flow of ice-cream and coffee beverages after your meal at the DIY stations!
Food Factory is located at Third Floor of First World Plaza.

And here is the highlight of our trip: we were just minutes away to the Power Ranges Live in Genting performance! My childhood heroes on television, and I was about to see them in the flesh! A rush of excitement came over me as we packed into the auditorium...
A quick synopsis of the plot (from the RWG website) looked promising:
The Power Rangers, the five warriors chosen by the Energems to protect Earth and to prevent it from falling into evil hands, find themselves repeatedly engaged in battle with Fury, Poisandra and their sidekicks. But one of the Power Rangers, Pink, is captured by the villains—along with an Energem. The fate of the world then lies in the hands of the rest of the Power Rangers—they have to free Pink and regain the Energem.
I was really impressed at the commitment to the costumes, the acting and even fight cheoreography of the live performance. They looked EXACTLY like what I remembered in the episodes; and I really liked that the actors had very good body language in expressing themselves, despite having their faces obscured from view. An A-class act in my books!
And I kinda squealed when some of the Power Rangers event came down to the public to interact and shake hands!
I do suspect that apart from the cheering of the children, us grown-ups were really touched and cheering inside. Abit embarrassing to admit, but I actually teared up when I saw the Power Rangers crew, bringing back down memory lane and remembering how badass they were. I think the Power Rangers Live Action Show has really reignited the magic of superheroes and reiterated how good will always triumph over evil!
Just a short 10 minute trip away from First World Hotel, we found ourselves at the grandiose setting that is the Rajawali Coffee House. Getting all pumped up after the show has certainly worked up quite an appetite for me and the others and so a hearty meal was in order. We came just in time as Dinner fare was served, and began to unwind to the soothing tunes of the live singers...
I personally recommend the curry dishes for their authentic fresh spice tastes as well as the Shawarma rolls, which has a very nice generous serving of meat fillings. For seafood lovers, you can also expect an assortment of mussel, scallops, crabs, oyster. Rajawali Coffeehouse serves up Chinese, Indian and Local Malaysian fares to tantalize your tastebuds.
I must say there was quite a nice selection of desserts such as sweet cakes, chocolate fondue but I was weak in the knees for these yummy puddings!
Situated within Asana Resort, you can choose to dine either indoors or at the Veranda, overlooking the sprawling golf course and greenery. Only annoying thing is that there is a protective net covering, but a necessity to protect diners from stray balls.
Operating Hours Buffet Breakfast: 7.00 am – 10.00 am Buffet Lunch: 12.00 noon – 2.30 pm / Buffet Dinner: 6.00 pm – 9.30 pm Vegetarian food is available A’la Carte & Take-away - 12.00 noon – 11.30 pm
