REDWOOD WEAVES AMBIANCE AND MELODY [FREE EP]

The solo project of Chicago’s Jordan Parker, Redwood (@iamredwood) specializes in weaving ambient, fuzzy synth with deep-toned, quick-paced percussion and distant vocals. While the beats and chords that make up Parker’s Swim Fan EP may appear optimistic, there’s also a certain gravity present in each song’s instrumental builds and solemn vocal melodies. This depth adds a much needed layer to the complex electronic effects and proves that Redwood is more than simply a collection of rhythmic sounds.

Since the EP release this past summer, Redwood has given us two additional singles, both instrumental and more syncophated than previous tracks. While certainly an interesting listen, Parker clearly has a sense for vocal melody, and the absence is notable. Regardless, though, we should all keep our ear to the ground for what Redwood will release next.
