Redbull, Kogan and Amaysim Compared

Posted on the 09 January 2013 by Prepaidplans @prepaidplans

Whilst I might be complaining about the value on offer in terms value from plans at the moment, one thing I can’t complain about is the range of providers in the market. In tighter financial times you would expect a few to go away but at the moment all we are seeing is new providers join the market. We had Kogan in December and Yatango coming in January. There will be more over the year as Telstra Wholesale begins to make its inroads.

One thing I did want to do however is compare of the more popular unlimited offers being promoted at the moment. Now I am not saying that these are the best value plans out in the market, more so that these are the plans that many of the forums have had lots to say about.

Today we are comparing the unlimited mobile plans from Amaysim, Red Bull Mobile and Kogan.

In terms of value, both the Red Bull and Kogan offers are significantly cheaper at around $24/mth (Red Bull Mobile is offering a bonus of 3mths). In all cases international calls and TXT are charged extra outside of the recharge or monthly amount. In the case of Red Bull and Kogan, a bolt on pack would be required in order to access international and premium services.

Data is an interesting one. Whilst Kogan gives you more, they do charge you p/MB similar to Amaysim, however Amaysim offers Optus 3G speeds (likely to be faster than Telstra 3G) and unlimited social media access. Red Bull has 5GB and the benefit of increments at 250KB, giving you a lot more value than either plan.

If you don’t have issues with the Vodafone network, then Red Bull is probably the better offer.
