Meet Angela from Imperfecti.com, she’s a fashion blogger based out of Modena, Italy where I live. On her blog she writes in Italian but don’t let that discourage you from getting great outfit inspiration from her. Her blog is full of perfect ensembles, brand showcases and even some fashion week reporting!
If you are already familiar with Reasons To Dress, you know that I’m not really into outfit fashion shoots for the sake of fashion shoots! I try to show what I actually wore when I leave the house becaue I have somewhere to go. Keeping this in mind, I started doing street style photography, and a Series called Real Mom Street Style, to showcase the fashionable Italian moms that leave their houses looking their best.
It just so happens that a few months back I took a series of street style photos of this mom, who happens to also be be a fashion blogger in Modena. Angela from Imperfecti.com is her best friend! I was basically on-line stalking her, and one day I had to run some errands in the centre of Modena and I saw her crossing the street.
We had never met, but I was already so familiar with her from following her blog. Thankfully, she had heard of mine to, and so the awkwardness of yelling “Hey are you Angela from Imperfecti?”, in the loudest voice possible as she crossed the street quickly subsided and we chatted for an hour.
The Reason She Dressed
I spotted her crossing the street in front of the Duomo of Modena (A UNESCO World Heritage site!), she was on her way to her office building, where she works as an accountant.
Her office building is on the other side of the city so I accompanied her and we chatted about …well….. everything! She totally wins the award for best dressed accountant EVER, plus she is a MOM of 2 beautiful kids!
What She Wore
Even though she is a fashion blogger I consider these photos real street style pictures, because no fashion shoot was planned! She was just wearing this amazing outfit on her way to her accounting job!
Her Coat
Angela’s Jacket is Max Mara. Most people are familiar with the brand Max Mara, but perhaps they don’t realize that the brand is based out of THIS AREA OF ITALY! Specifically, Reggio Emilia which is only 30 minutes away from Modena.
They are a major luxury fashion house, and since they’ve been around since the 1950s you can find FANTASTIC vintage items in vintage and consignment shops.
Take this coat for example, found here. It is vintage Max Mara, in cream wool, complete with real leather trim, hood and “robe” belt.
This just goes to show that what goes around comes around in fashion, since one of the BIGGEST trends to come out of the Fashion Weeks that just happened, presenting next fall and winter’s lines was “Robe Coats”. StyleCater.com just did a whole overview of the trend! Instead of waiting for this look to hit the stores you can get it right now with a vintage Max Mara coat, how is that for Fashion Foresight™!

Her Shoes
Angela’s shoes are Sorel, founded in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada (in Ontario the province where I am from!) in 1962. In Canada they have always been pretty famous as “the winter boot”, but just recently Sorel has been launched into the luxury fashion stratosfere as a fashion brand!
“Classic” Sorel boots can retail for anywhere from $250 – $300, but if you do a bit of research you can find a great pair like these beige suede ones for less than $90 here!!
Her Jeans
Her jeans are from the Italian brand Denny Rose.
This brand costs a pretty penny, like these aged “boyfriend” jeans to the right which are regularly priced at $350 (yikes!) but are currently on sale for $69 here!
Angela’s look is great because she is petite and rolled her to make a big cuff.
Mixing: Non Designer + Designer
You can tell by her clothes that Angela’s into designer labels, which I have to admit look fantastic on her! However, her hat (which I think is key to her overall “look”) is NOT designer, it is from the simple discount “normal people” brand OVS!
I personally don’t often buy into designer brands, but I do love good quality Italian brands and will often dish out for something that is very high quality, especially if I think I’ll wear it over and over again and for years to come. You can read all about my “fashion philosophy” here.
In my own style, I’ll often work in cheaper finds like vintage or thrift pieces with a high quality, Italian made pair of shoes and bag. So I really appreciate that Angela included a non-luxe hat in an otherwise luxe outfit.
Her bag is Gucci, sun glasses are by the brand Annarita N and hat is OVS.
