You're probably sick of me mentioning festivals now, but I thought my day at Reading 2012 needed its own little blog post because it was so awesome. Since buying my tickets all the way back since the announcement of the acts in March, I've been waiting very impatiently to finally be amid the buzz and excitement of Little John's Farm. I went with two of my friends from back home, so it was lovely to spend the day with them, seeing as I am not back in Coventry that much any more!
We left at 8am and after a 2 and a bit hour drive listening to the Foos and Black Keys on loud, we finally got into Reading before boarding a shuttle bus and walking the last little distance to the festival site. I've never seen a city so full of people in wellies! Before we were even by the site, you could already feel the excitement surrounding the day in the air. Everyone was buzzing for the headline act that evening, which is very understandable! We spent the whole day at the main stage, where we saw Pulled Apart By Horses, Band of Skulls, Eagles of Death Metal, The Gaslight Anthem, All Time Low, Bullet for My Valentine, Kaiser Chiefs, The Black Keys and the one and only Foo Fighters. I personally really like all of these bands, so it was well worth £98 just for the line-up alone. Oh, and I caught a glimpse of the legend that is Simon Pegg in the VIP area too! The music (and cider!) allowed us to ignore the extortionate prices of the food and drink...and the huge amount of dust that billowed above us whenever a mosh pit started.
My favorite part of the day was most definitely the Foo Fighters. I've watched their live shows on many occasions on the TV and always thought to myself 'I need to see them one day', and yesterday was finally that day. As soon as Dave Grohl walked on the stage and announced 'This is it' before the band went into White Limo, I knew it was going to be corker of a show. I was actually surprisingly close to the front, which made the atmosphere even more incredible. When the crowd were singing the 'woah' bit of Best of You with no band playing, the echoes that went around the field gave me goosebumps. Everything about their set was amazing and as the fireworks went off over the field at the end of their set, I knew it was something I wasn't going to forget in a hurry.
If you weren't lucky enough to be there, or you just want to relive it all over gain, you can watch the Foo Fighters on BBC iPlayer, I know I've already watched it all over again (Yes, I am a saddo haha) If you haven't been to a festival this year, I thoroughly recommend going to one next year - I know I'll be saving up for a Reading weekend ticket for 2013!
