The hotel function room was impressive but I felt so uncomfortable and out of place. Some of the new girls spent time chatting with me but I think it’s only because they didn’t see me as a threat in the unofficial ‘who can brown nose senior management the most and land a permanent job’ game. After a few hours of drinking too much too fast for Dutch courage, I was bored, standing by a white marble pillar near the function suite exit and considering how much longer it would be before I could make my exit without Kirsten noticing. Looking up I gazed blankly at the massive chandeliers hanging down from an over the top Pre-Raphaelite ceiling.Someone brushed against my back and I moved to one side not taking much notice. Then I felt his arm slithering around my waist and pulling me between the pillar and a large mahogany antique coat stand. His tight grip winded me slightly and sent tingles from my stomach up through my chest as I inhaled his spicy aftershave. With my back firmly pressed against his chest, I felt his mouth on my cheek as he whispered. "You’re coming with me." He wasn’t asking, he was demanding. A command, loaded with sexual intent and he didn’t give me time to consider resisting. Not that I would have.

I let him lead me out of the hall and towards the foyer without saying a word. Despite my suppressed anxiety, it was kind of exciting to be whisked away by an unquestionably handsome, stranger. Pathetically the only thing going through my mind as I stepped outside with him into the cold night air was ‘Beth will be so proud of me when I tell her about this’. Beth has always been so much more forward with guys.He hailed a cab and we got in but as his hand gripped my arm with almost crushing force I started to lose my nerve. What the hell was I doing going off with some strange man in the middle of London. Edging away in the back of the taxi I argued with myself in my head about whether I should make an excuse and ask the cab driver to take me home or just slip under the control of the alcohol I’d consumed and go with the flow - his to command - literally. It wasn't long before we pulled up outside what appeared to be a series of up and coming, wine bars and bistros. He paid the driver and opened the door for me. His smile was warm and reached his twinkling eyes which made my heart pound faster.
