On 14th February 2020, Indian Railways made an announcement to launch a Ramayana themed train. The train will have exterior and interior designs based on the great epic Ramayan and bhajans will also be played on board to give the passengers a true experience of pilgrimage on the wheel.
Earlier, Indian Railways operated a special tourist train in November 2018, 'Shri Ramayana Express', which was also based on the theme of Ramayan. The train covered important destinations of the Ramayana circuit i.e, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi, Ayodhya and Rameshwaram.
Indian Railways assured that the new train will be different from the 'Shri Ramayana Express'. The packages and the schedule will be announced shortly. According to Indian Railways, the train will be launched after 10th March 2020 and will operate from different locations in North, South, East, and West.
