Raising the Dead: Reflecting on Definitely Dead

Posted on the 28 November 2012 by Eric And Sookie Lovers @EricSookieLover

Well folks, we are almost able to countdown the remaining months till the release of Dead Ever After with one hand. A bittersweet moment for all of us, I am sure.

In the meantime, lets turn our frowns upside down and continue out Celebrate the SVM series with our reflections on the 6th novel of the series: Definitely Dead.

Raising the Dead: Reflecting on Definitely Dead

The over all reaction:

For me (B), I think the cover set the tone on how I would “feel” about the book. While I enjoyed it and found myself laughing at certain parts of the story… I kept thinking of it as filler, to get to the next book. I am totally blaming the tiger.

Nymerias had some mixed reactions as well… I swear, we share a brain at times.

What moment made us cry?

We all agreed that the hospital scene where Sookie learned the truth about how that other vampire ended up in her life was pretty painful to read. We all were crying along with our girl… cause even though we knew he was an ass, it was a knife to the gut that the whole relationship was based on a lie.

On the bright side, Erika was encouraged because it firmly put Bill in the “EX” column.

Nymerias shared that she was saddened (and mad) at the moment Eric brings up her fairy blood and Sookie’s reaction that it is the only reason anyone would want her. Erika, while affected the same way as Nymerias, countered that Sookie’s reaction gave us a  glimpse of her true feelings for Eric. That she “was hoping he was different from Bill.”

Erika and I also commiserated that there was just waaaaaay to much Q-tip for out taste.

What moment made you laugh?

Bowling. For. Vampires…. that moment after Eric kisses Sookie and gleefully reenters the battle with a Viking cry… and Wyberts head. Hilarious

Erika also enjoyed Sookie telling Eric to stop contacting her through “flunkies”. Poor Pam.. I can just imagine the teasing now. LOL

I will also admit to laughing at Sookie situation after leaving the Abby over the wall. For it is rare to be on the streets of New Orleans with your boobs exposed… and NOT get beads.

Favorite Moment/Line from the book:

We all agree that “Bowling for Vampires” … and that kiss before Eric goes back into battle is one of are favorite FAVORITE moments from this boo.

We also agree that we love Eric finding Sookie after the crazy Pelts kidnapped her. Le sigh.

What are some of your favorite moments from Definitely Dead? Come, celebrate with us and share them below!
