Rainy Day Party Ideas
Last year was the first time I had experienced a true east coast winter. I am from a place that never shuts down for weather, so it was kind of a shock to live somewhere that shut everything down because of a light dusting of snow. I spent many weeks locked inside my house with family, just playing board games and enjoying each other's company. I thought that the experience would wear out its welcome, but I found that I loved spending my time that way and I kind of miss it.
Well, spring is definitely on its way here in Utah, which means plenty of rain and days spent indoors. I personally love days like that, where I can just stay locked inside with no plans to go anywhere or do anything, other than watching the rain fall on the windows. I look forward to spending that time cozied up inside with friends and family, bonding, enjoying delicious treats, and playing some of my favorite games like Jenga game and The Game of Life game. I was looking forward to this rainy season so much, that I decided to plan a little Rainy Day Party that anyone can recreate for the days that are better spent inside your home than anywhere else.
As I was shopping at Walmart, I decided to grab some 42 0z. XL SUP Milk Chocolate M&M's® and 42 oz. XL SUP Peanut M&M's®, to use with a new cake-in-a-mug recipe idea I had. It seemed like the perfect option for a rainy day party, which is where the whole party plan stemmed from. I then grabbed a teepee, some beautiful string lights, and my coziest pillows and blankets to create the cutest party scene I have ever seen. I kept the rest of the food light and simple, but still full of comfort, and served up some baguettes with artichoke spread and a slice of tomato, grapes, and some artisanal cheeses. The Milk Chocolate M&M's® mixed in with my peanut butter cake-in-a-mug recipe was the perfect addition to the meal.

To create the Peanut Butter Cake-In-A-Mug recipe, you will need:
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Sugar
4 large Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup Milk Chocolate M&M's®
Directions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until completely combined. Separate mixture into four mugs and microwave for 1.5-2 minutes or until edges start to brown. Once the cakes are baked, top with Milk Chocolate M&M's® while it's still hot. Serve warm.
I did a smaller version of this recipe which kept the cakes the perfect serving size (just cut the recipe in half). But they aren't quite as show stopping as the full recipe...

I also wanted my party guests to go home with a little reminder of a rainy day well spent. So, I took some cute treat bags, filled them with Peanut M&M's®, then sealed them with a sticker to match. That way, the party will last long after everyone has gone home. Plus, they looked adorable!

Next time it rains and you feel like you have nothing to do, make a fort, hang some lights, cook up some delicious treats, and pull out the games like Jenga game and The Game of Life game. You'll find that Game Night has never been sweeter.
How do you like to spend your rainy days?
