Chicago Sun Times: Two people were killed and at least 19 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening.
Early Sunday, one man was shot to death and another was wounded on the Near North Side, police said.
About 3:50 a.m., police found a 32-year-old man in an alley in the 800 block of North Orleans, police said. He had a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not confirm the death early Sunday.
Another man, 21, was shot in the right foot and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition was stable, police said.
The weekend’s first homicide occurred about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Three teens were in the 2400 block of South Washtenaw when two other males walked up and opened fire, police said.
Ramon Breceda, 16, of the 2700 block of West 23rd Street, was shot in the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m. Saturday, according to police the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A 15-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks and an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm, police said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where their conditions were stable. All three are documented gang members, police said.
The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about 6 a.m. Sunday in Englewood. A 32-year-old man was driving in the 5700 block of South Morgan when two males — one walking and one on a bicycle — started shooting at the vehicle, which crashed, police said.
The driver suffered an apparent graze wound to the abdomen and was taken to University of Chicago, police said. The 20-year-old woman passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.
At least 15 other people have been shot across the city since about 6 p.m. Friday. A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Orlando Lomax was walking on the sidewalk in the 3900 block of West North about 11:30 p.m., when four males walked up and the group got in a fight, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. During the fight, Lomax was stabbed in the back, authorities said.
Lomax, of the 1500 block of North Karlov Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. Police said he was gang affiliated.
