The popular mobile chip-maker, Qualcomm announced their new Toq smartwatch back in September, in hopes of taking its’ manufacturing power to their own hands. The Toq smartwatch is an innovative device which allows users to accept calls, view messages, notifications and pretty much any other smartwatch is able to do. The company has now officially announced the retail price and release date of the device.
Qualcomm has chosen December 2nd, AKA Cyber Monday to launch its’ new limited edition device at a $350 price point, which is actually $50 more than Samsung’s smartwatch. Eventhough, Qualcomm is not hoping to compete against other major smartwatches with this device. Their sole purpose is to show off its’ latest technologies like “Mirasol display technology,” the always on display technology that offers better viewing in direct sunlight while consuming very low amount of power. Toq also sports Qualcomm’s “WiPower” wireless charging technology, as well as Bluetooth-powered wireless headphones.

Despite the media hype, Samsung failed to generate big sales with its’ Galaxy Gear smartwatch. So, it’s unclear if Qualcomm has a better chance of making their smartwatch successful and get their new technologies out in the open. Toq smartwatch will go on sale via Qualcomm’s official website.
