It’s another week of wildly anticipated records being released all at once, much to the joy of all music fans. With a record that’s been on repeat for many since it first started streaming, Purity Ring finally releases their much anticipated debut. Passion Pit follows up their star-making debut while Foxygen creates theirs, and The Antlers give us reason to tell everyone why we love them so much again.
With their old time rock sensibilities and lovely song writing, Foxygen’s debut LP is a doozy of different styles and influences. Take The Kids Off Broadway is a lot of things at once — and every single one of them is absolutely enthralling. We’ve been waiting for this release since we heard the spectacular “Make it Known” earlier this year, and we’re sure the whole album will live up to the hype.
Talk about an album living up to the hype. Purity Ring’s debut full length has been streaming for weeks on all manner of websites, so most likely you’ve heard it already, but for those lucky few that get to listen to it for the first time today — lucky you! With their disjointed electronic melodies and catchy as all get out songs, be prepared to only listen to Purity Ring for the next few weeks.
With their loud and building songs and their freewheeling sensibilities, Passion Pit is perfect for summer. Gossamer has everything a summer party needs — catchy songs, sing-along worthy lyrics and actual depth in songwriting. We loved the last Passion Pit release and this one is absolutely comparable (maybe not quite as amazing but close!).
I love The Antlers so much I’d marry them. Every new Antlers release is a cause for celebration, even if it is only an EP. This dream pop EP is well beyond it’s scant songs in scope and we cannot wait to listen to every single track over and over while we dream of finally confessing our undying love to Peter Silberman.
