These charts were made using information in a new AP / NORC Poll -- done between September 28th and October 2nd of a random national sample of 1,150 adults, with a margin of error of 4.1 points.
The survey does not give good marks to our Republican-controlled government. Only 24% believe the country is headed in the right direction, while 74% disagree. And approval of the job Trump is doing reached a new low of only 32%, while 67% disapprove. Congressional approval is even worse, with 18% approving of the job they are doing and 81% disapproving.
Perhaps more important is the direction in which the numbers are moving. The poll was done in March, June, and September. Note that the numbers have grown worse with each poll.
