Man can survive up to 7 weeks without food but only 3 days without water. Project H2O addresses the need by mobilizing portable water filtration units that can produce as much as 120 gallons of water a day, addressing the need for water of a small community. Friends and colleagues in the US and the Philippines, I invite you to consider contributing to this practical and sustainable project for those affected by super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.
Alumni and students of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila are working continuously to assemble and distribute portable water filtration units to communities affected by the recent calamity. Instructions translated in Tagalog together with pictures on how to use them accompany these units (see the water pails above).
The UP Medicine-Mu Sigma Phi Foundation USA is soliciting donations to purchase the parts needed to build these units. The Sawyer portable water filtration unit is being assembled by the University of the Philippines College of Medicine alumni and medical students. To date, 900 units of the Sawyer H2O Filters have been purchased, to be available in MNL 11/26/13. An initial 100 units have been assembled & distributed.
