Products For The Perfect At-Home Manicure & Pedicure Routine

By Triedandtestedblogger @triedtestedblog

Getting a professional manicure and pedicure can be so expensive these days so I always opt to do them myself at home. I’ve recently discovered some really gorgeous products to help you get that salon feel in the comfort of your own home!

I first start off by removing my nail polish and I’ve been reaching for the Manicare Moisturising Nail Polish Remover Pads* which I first spoke about a few years ago. They are fantastic at removing nail polish without drying out the nail and if you hate the usual nail polish remover scent, then theses are a must as they don’t smell at all thanks to the touch of coconut. The pads are soaked very well so you only need 1-2 for removal. I then go ahead and clip my nails before filing them.

A recent addition to my hand care, the Mary Kay Peach Satin Hands Smoothie Hand Scrub* in a 2 in 1 cleanser and exfoliant that smells absolutely amazing! The apricot and peach seed help gently exfoliate the skin, leaving it smooth and soft. I’ve been using this product twice a week on my hands and feet and it has left them feeling amazing!

For the weeks that I want to give my nails a break from nail polish, I usually use a treatment like the Manicare Hydranail* which I’m currently testing out. I was previously using the Revitanail Nail Strengthener which I loved as it did repair and strengthen my nails but it is quite pricey! For nail polish, I’m sporting an all Australian brand, The Nail Lab Nail Polish* in Fay as a base with Foxy as a glitter top coat. The base color is opaque in one coat and the polishes have a fantastic wide brush that allows for quick and easy application.

After applying a treatment/nail polish and letting that completely dry (preferably for a few hours), I then dip my fingers into the Boe Professional Instant Nail & Cuticle Care Oil* which features a sponge soaked in a oil, allowing you to apply the formula with just a twist of the finger! I love how easy it is to use and the oil itself is lovely and light, working into the cuticle really well, almost like a dry oil as it doesn’t leave a heavy, greasy residue behind!

Finally, to finish off my manicure treatment, I lather my hands in a hand cream (though I do try to use a hand cream daily, if I remember to apply!). My go to at the moment is the Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Hand Cream* which smells lovely and fresh. The cream has a lovely rich but light texture, instantly hydrating and smoothing the skin with a lasting effect.

After using a foot scrub, I would usually reach for the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi (reviewed here) but they’ve recently released the Scholl Velvet Smooth Wet & Dry Hard Skin Foot File* which can now be used in the shower and features a waterproof and wirelessly rechargeable unit. The ability to now use it in the shower is fantastic as I find using a foot file more effective on wet skin as it’s really able to remove that tough skin more effectively!

To complete my pedicure, I finally apply a foot cream before popping my feet into a pair of socks to get the most out of the cream! The L’Occitane Shea Butter Dry Skin Foot Cream is gorgeous rich cream that massages well into the feet, leaving them hydrated and supple. A little goes a long way and you can definitely see the effect it makes as the days go by.

Are you a fan of an at home mani/pedi?
