Description
Performs skilled and technical work requiring driving an ambulance or other emergency medical vehicle, rescuing or extricating victims, and administering basic and intermediate emergency medical care to patients at the scene and during transport to a hospital.

EMT – Paramedic (Full-time – $35,661) (Hourly-$17.1448)
EMT – Intermediate  (Full-time – $29,338) (Hourly – $14.1049) EMT – Basic  (Full-time – $26,611) (Hourly – $12.7938) FLSA: Non-Exempt Closing Date: Open Until Filled Paramedic Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED and be certified as a North Carolina EMT-Paramedic or have the ability to obtain a NC EMT-Paramedic credential through reciprocity. Must maintain a current valid DMV operator’s license. Must have experience directly related to emergency medical services. Duties: Provides advanced life support to individuals who are in need of medical assistance. Intermediate Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. Must be a high school graduate or have GED and be certified as a North Carolina EMT- Intermediate or have the ability to obtain a NC EMT-Intermediate credential through reciprocity. Must maintain a current valid DMV operator’s license. For consideration for full-time employment, the candidate must be enrolled in paramedic education with eligibility to be credentialed as a NC Paramedic within two years or completion of Guilford County’s Paramedic Certification Program within one year of enrollment. Duties: All duties of an EMT plus provide IV Therapy and Medication Administration. EMT Basic Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. Must be a high school graduate or have GED and be certified as a North Carolina EMT or have the ability to obtain a NC EMT credential through reciprocity. Must maintain a current valid DMV operator’s license. Duties: Provides basic life support to individuals who are in need of medical assistance. Paramedic Academy: Candidates for the Guilford County EMS Paramedic Academy must be 18 years of age. Must be a high school graduate or have GED. Must maintain a current valid DMV operator’s license. Must be able to pass placement testing for post-secondary educational levels. Must be credentialed as a North Carolina EMT or have the ability to obtain a NC EMT credential through reciprocity. Persons selected for the Paramedic Academy are eligible for full-time, benefited employment. A sponsorship is provided and has a mandatory work requirement after completion of education. Duties: Attend paramedic education, while providing credential-based appropriate life support to individuals who are in need of medical assistance.
Supplemental Information
Selected applicants (full-time and hourly) must successfully complete a work sample assessment involving physical skills of moving patients and working in cramped spaces in outdoor climate. The successful candidate will be required to sign a Conditional Offer of Employment and must be able to pass a drug screening test, a medical evaluation by a licensed physician, a psychological screening test, criminal background investigation, and successfully complete a comprehensive orientation course (approx. 160 hours) and complete a introductory period.
