Throughout Fiscal Year 2013/14, a multitude of infrastructure projects are in the works throughout the City which are creating a safer traffic environment, while increasing ease of access.
“This slate of projects is designed to ensure our roadways are safely maintained,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We as a city take very seriously the responsibility that we have in providing for safe and drivable roadways and will continue to diligently work towards that end.”
One such project involves the repair of Lancaster Boulevard from 30th to 40th Street East. This project entails the replacement of sections of the roadway, assorted roadway maintenance, and various pedestrian improvements. Another project will allow for the installation of a new traffic signal at Avenue I and 25th Street East.
At Avenue J and 20th Street East as well as Avenue J-2 and 17th Street East, gaps in the immediate vicinity of the intersections will be eliminated, thus providing for a smoother flow of traffic. An additional such gap closure will be performed on Avenue J-8 from 25th to 27th Street East.
In addition, a new roundabout is being constructed at the intersection of Avenue L and Challenger Way. This improvement will provide a means of slowing down traffic, thus promoting a safer driving environment.
