Preparing To Spend Big On This Year’s Biggest Beauty Trends

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Asians spend more than $150 million USD on beauty and personal care products every year, according to Asian Scientist. Spending in Japan and China is higher than anywhere else in the world, as consumers are keen to boost their appearance and stay on trend. This year, Asian consumers are expected to spend their cash on peeling masks, colored eyeliners, and prosthetic makeup. But, other than seeking out ways to save on your beauty product shopping, how can you ensure you can afford the latest Asian beauty trends?

Plan your beauty goals

As one year draws to a close and another begins, social media, beauty blogs, and the press collate all the hottest anticipated Asian beauty trends for the coming 12 months. Glittery eye makeup, glossy lips, hair tinsel, and 'glass skin' are expected to be huge this year. However, not every one of these looks will be your thing. It's therefore wise to plan ahead, and decide which of these trends you yearn to add to your beauty regime and which you can do without.

Keep on top of your finances

In the likes of Thailand, 78%, or six million individuals are in debt. Meanwhile, 53% of these individuals confess to missing repayments. But by doing this, you're hindering your credit score. What's more, you're at risk of not being able to afford the latest Kit-Kat-inspired eyeshadow palette, meaning you'll be missing out on the warm and neutral original shade palette and the cool-toned neutral 'Strawberry Tiramisu' palette. By simply monitoring all your forms of credit regularly, including your multiple credit cards, it will help you to stay on top of your repayments, and make it clear which card needs a little extra financial attention from you.

Have an emergency beauty fund

As with all trends, some bounce onto the beauty scene with an unexpected bang. No one could predict 2018's viral Asian phenomenon of prosthetics being used to create a porcelain doll-like appearance. Women were videoed taking off their noses, chins, ears, and so much more, and the trend even went global. But, with Youtuber, Promise Tamang using no fewer than 15 products to create such a look, it's a wise idea to have an emergency beauty fund set aside to fall back on when such a craze makes an appearance. Set up a standing order into a savings account, and you won't have to worry about being unable to afford to look good ever again.

Beauty trends continue to come and go in Asia. To ensure that you can always afford to update your look, it's wise to plan ahead, regularly asses your finances, and to have an emergency beauty fund set aside.
