* Potty Time

By Keepingupwithsonnek @aJOschlomka
YEAH!!! Avrie Pooped AND peed in the potty today after lunch!!
With that being said, my little one has inspired me to share for Baby Talk Tuesday. Today I am going talk a little bit about potty time and how we are approaching it here in our household with little Miss Avrie Jo.
 * Potty Time
My mom pointed out (while Aaron and I were in Cancun- Jan) that Avrie was showing a little bit or interest in the potty. Saying "poopy" patting her diaper and wanting to wipe her butt.
Between then (Avrie at 19 months) to now (Avrie at 22 months) we have been having her sit on her potty when she asks to and when she says "go potty" or "mommy poop". In doing just that, she pooped for the first time on her potty chair March 15th, 2013 after lunch! You can only imagine the celebration dance I did- and the crazy look Avrie gave to me. She just wanted to know where the cookies were! Our good, girl potty treat involves cookies. :P
* Potty Time
Lately, she has been saying "go potty, go potty, go potty" each morning when I go in to get her up for the day. I get her out of her wet diaper and into the bathroom we go. Since she already has a wet diaper we usually just spend a few minutes fartin' around (potty time involves A LOT... of patience).
Funny story.... last week during one of those fartin' around bathroom breaks- Avrie was standing in the bathroom checking out the sink, her step stool, her toothbrush and was easily distracted by her belly button. She looked up at me said "mommy, belly button" while pushing her belly button and BAM peed ALL OVER THE BATHROOM FLOOR! Ahhhhhh!! I waited half a second because this type of thing was sure to upset little girl- but NOPE... she backed away from it, pointed to it and quickly said "mommy wipe up- i spilled it!"
I laughed SO hard (trying to save face) all the while scooping Avrie up and setting her on her potty kindly telling her "Avrie Jo- no, no.. we pee on the potty chair, not on the floor." She just looked up at me with those big eyes and said "mom, i wipe my butt?"
* Potty Time Oh man... this kid...she's bossy, cute AND funny! i just love her to death!
Anyway... because her interest comes and goes, we aren't actively potty training YET per say. BUT each week she seems to have more of the bathroom process click. So we are just taking it slow and I am hoping that we can really hammer down on it around her 2nd birthday and be 100% day-trained this summer.
In the meantime, we will continue to follow her lead- I will track her success with the app "Potty Baby" and I'll be sure to frame her track record for display at her High School Graduation! hahahaha KIDDING.
Is your little one potty trained/training? How'd you do it?
