The Sidney M. Edelstein Center for the History and Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Medicine at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships in the history and philosophy of science, technology and medicine for the academic year 2013-2014.
Students with a Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in the History, Philosophy or Sociology of Science, as well as in the Physical or Life Sciences, are invited to apply for the above post-doctoral fellowships. Applications should include a research proposal, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and the abstract and sample chapter from the doctoral dissertation and/or a recent publication. All applications must be supported with three letters of recommendation, sent directly to the offices of the Edelstein Center.

The Center especially encourages applications by candidates who have common research interests with any members of the Edelstein Center and might wish to work with them during their post-doctoral tenure. Such candidates should draw attention to this in the proposal; it may be relevant for the evaluation of their application.

The Center also encourages applications by candidates whose research proposal is based on using any of the following collections: The Edelstein Collections (Chemistry, Alchemy, Dyeing, and Nutrition), the Albert Einstein Archives, the Yahuda Theological Collection of Isaac Newton, and the Friedenwald Collection (History of Medicine). Such candidates, too, should draw attention to this in the proposal; it may be relevant for the evaluation of their application.

Fellows are expected to take part in the activities of the Center throughout their fellowship period, and in particular (1) to participate in the weekly colloquium, (2) to participate in the discussion groups and research groups in their relevant fields, and (3) to give at least one lecture about their research during the year of fellowship.

Applications (no forms are required) should be sent to the Sidney M. Edelstein Center for the History and Philosophy of Science, Technology and Medicine, Edmond J. Safra Campus, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Givat Ram, Jerusalem 91904, Israel.
