Posh Drinks and a View to Take Your Breath Away...

By Boberika @boberika

After a lovely stroll along the High-Line we proceeded to have an afternoon cocktails at Le Bain, the rooftop bar at The Standard Hotel, which is 18 stories up, rising over the High-Line in the heart of downtown Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Absolutely stunning views of New York and the mighty Hudson River. The penthouse discothèque and rooftop bar was the perfect place to watch the sunset and sip a cheeky cocktail. During summer months, the rooftop bar is frequented by celebrities and all the beautiful party goers who've just been for a dip in the hotel's jacuzzi in white bikinis that you can purchase from a vending machine (not something I was not tempted to do!).

Besides the outdoor rooftop bar,  there is also the famous Boom Boom Room, which is a throwback to '70's carefree decadence and filled with wavy cream-coloured leather banquettes, golden fireplaces and starburst chandeliers. But the most famous thing about this place was the scandalous the floor to ceiling windows in the bathrooms allowing a full view of unsuspecting guests using the toilets to the pedestrians on the street below! Luckily I was wise enough to use the privacy curtain now provided and all anyone would have seen was me taking quite a lot of photos of the Manhattan skyline!
