Porches, the Brooklyn-based solo project of Aaron Maine, is gearing up to release his Domino debut in 2016, and he’s previewed the new album with the delicate single “Hour”. The soft-spoken, plaintive tune finds Maine experimenting more with synthesized sounds and programmed beats than in the past, crooning of his “loner hour” over spare, scintillating tones that fill up the song’s space simply and slowly. Though Maine’s girlfriend Greta Kline, a.k.a. Frankie Cosmos, is no longer an official member of Porches, she appears on this song in the form of perfectly-harmonizing backing vocals, lending a gentle balance to the track. Though it’s only the first showing off of the new Porches album, it already promises that the new material will be an exciting step forward.
