Detroit quartet Popular Creeps offer a dish of classic rock with a seasoning of glam and punk on their new album All Of This Will End In Tears. Using tried-and-true subjects as love, anger, grief and death, it is an album that can offer a welcome diversion of the listener's own issues. With the two guitars playing catch and a tight but loose rhythm section they have polished up the signature grit of Motor City just a bit, even making inroads into country vibe with Wait Forever.
They feel more comfortable with the needles hovering in the red - the upbeat Wait & See and the slow menace in Flamethrower. Anyone who lost a dear friend can relate to the heartfelt rocker Gone By 45, a touching tribute to bassist Tom Payne sung by guitarist Lenny Grassa. All Of This Will End In Tears tries to convert bad things into something good. Finding closure is still a long way to go, but it will help them to move on.
