A 24-month post-doctoral fellowships in philosophy of physics is opening in the Department of Mathematics at the Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi). The position is funded under the PRIN 2022 grant on “Analogical Reasoning in Contemporary Physical Theories”, which is led by Giovanni Valente (Politecnico di Milano) in collaboration with the philosophy of science group at University of Urbino directed by Prof. Vincenzo Fano. The project aims to explore the force and plausibility of analogical inferences in case studies from quantum field theory and black-holes physics.

The deadline for applications is on January 19, 2024. The only job interview is scheduled on February 5 and the tentative starting date is March 1. Beside doing research on the topic of the project, the successful candidate will collaborate with the members of the inter-departmental unit of study META (http://www.meta.polimi.it/ ), devoted to the development of philosophy of science and technology at the Politecnico di Milano.
