Point Cottage In Ullapool – Homely, Cute and Magical

By Littlebckpacker @littlebckpacker

photo (4)I fell in love with this B & B whilst looking on the website, long before I had even visited the place. The views from the window of each room were to die for and its location on the water’s edge made it even more perfect. With the price for a double room and breakfast being £10 less than most other B&Bs I had been looking at, I had to book a night here.

I have stayed in a few incredibly luxurious places but always felt out of place; however upon walking in to this little cottage I soon realised it was the exact luxury I crave and love. If I had to sum this place up in three words It would be: homely, cute and magical.

Homely

Cathy welcomed us as we pulled up at the door, instructed me on where to park and let us get ourselves sorted. We entered the cottage via the front door and were immediately greeted by a gorgeous and airy living room area. It was for guests to chill out in away from their rooms – something I have never come across at a B&B before. The walls were decorated with art, photography and maps of the local area. We were shown to our room which felt even more comforting than my own bedroom. A little table and chairs sat by the window; a wardrobe with fridge and breakfast food, and a toilet and shower were among our in room facilities.

Cute

This wasn’t an ordinary B&B where you sit in a restaurant area for breakfast, instead you were provided with breakfast food in your fridge and shelves. On top of that Cathy then delivered a home baked basket of goodies in the morning as well as fresh fruit. We even had a tea pot and filter coffee in our room to make the breakfast a step up from normal. The breakfast package in the morning was so cute, with a little note describing what everything was. The bathroom was complete with some amazing smelling soap Cathy gets from Lewis (the nearby island). All the little touches which made it a luxury B&B really impressed me.

Magical

The view was the reason I booked a night’s stay and my, did it live up to the pictures. We were lucky enough to arrive on a sunny, clear day and be able to see across the water to the mountains in the distance – something I can only describe as magical. Being able to sit on the chairs and look out the window was lovely but what was even better was being able to see the view from the bed. As we arrived at the B&B we were treated to what Cathy described as her favourite part of the day – the ferry leaving for Stornoway. Watching the ferry leave for the beautiful island not only makes you want to be on the ferry but makes you feel like you are on the ferry. I didn’t believe Cathy when she said that, but sure enough as I stared at the ferry it felt like I was moving too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it was just the kind of luxury I love. Not over the top but so many tiny details it really feels like it has been thought out. We spent most of our Roadtrip glamping it up so having a night’s stay in a B&B was a welcome change.

A night here for two people in a double room with breakfast cost just £65 which was on average £10 cheaper than most other B&Bs I looked at. Located along the water front in Ullapool it is a perfect stop if heading out to the islands or on a roadtrip around Scotland.
