Sony gave E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) a great head start by unveiling the most anticipated PlayStation 4 gaming console hardware. After checking out most of the details back in the initial PS4 announcement, I’ve been anxiously waiting to see the console. Let’s take a look, shall we.
PS4 design looks very casual. Somehow, it has managed to keep up to our expectations with this basic but great looking design, especially when compared with Microsoft’s new box-like console. All the ports and slots have been hidden away between that stylish space, bringing character to the next-gen console. And the new PlayStation Eye Camera is smaller than ever.
First of all, Sony has confirmed that they wont put any lame restrictions on PS4, unlike Xbox One. That means, no DRM checks, no restrictions on playing used games on PS4 and an Internet connectivity is not a requirement. Microsoft was spotted hanging itself when this news was announced.
“When gamers buy a disc, they have the right to use that disc,” Sony chief executive Jack Tretton said. “Your games won’t stop working if you don’t check in after 24 hours.”
In other awesome features, Xbox One doesn’t stand a chance against PS4. As you may already know, tech specs of the PS4 console is mind-blowing. Which includes 8GB of GDDR5 memory, 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon Graphics Core Next engine and a whole lot more. Sony is already developing more than 30 exclusive titles for PS4, 20 of them which will head out in the Q1 2014. These games includes Drive Club, Killzone Shadow Fall, Knack, and many more.
I’m already convinced that PS4 wins the next-gen console battle. I actually had a feeling this would happen when Sony gave a chance for Microsoft to unveil their console first before PS4 hardware show-off. But wait, there’s more.
Moments before Sony’s press conference at E3, Microsoft announced that they will sell the Xbox One for $499. All gamers, who had a lot of faith in the next-gen console started to freak out after this news. Not so long after that, Sony dropped a line about their price tag for PS4 to cost $100 less than Xbox One at only $399, according to VentureBeat.
Obviously, there’s no battle between these two next-gen consoles. We already have a winner. You can pick it up when it launches in this holiday season and it’s already up for pre-order as well.
“Greatness awaits”. Suck on that slogan, Microsoft.
