Isle of Wight based dreamy psych-pop quintet Plastic Mermaids go all out with their new single, Elastic Time, which will serve as the final track of their It’s Not Comfortable To Grow album. Taking cues from the orchestral leanings of bands like The Decemberists it is haunting tale about life and death, inspired by singer Douglas Richards watching Disney's Fantasia for the first time since childhood. He was awestruck by the coupling of Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain and Schubert's Ave MarĂa for the final segment. It is pretty ambitious to follow an act like that, but as a piece of inspired, melodic pop music the band can hold their own.
It’s Not Comfortable To Grow will be released on September 30th via Sunday Best Recordings (vinyl, CD, digital). It is available for pre-order here.
