There are times when you announce a college trip plan and all your friends and college mates are up for it. You prepare for weeks and days and keep feeling enthusiastic about your upcoming trip but in the end nobody shows up! As a result, you end up dumping the entire plan and choose to sit behind and crib for an entire week. That’s exactly when you also feel that traveling solo would have been a better idea.
But many feel that traveling alone is weird
How can a person enjoy his/her trip all alone? Well, if your only motto is to have some fun and make the most of your trip, then traveling alone can actually help you in learning and implementing new things in your life. So, if you feel that traveling alone is better than traveling in groups, then check out some of these awesome solo traveling tips.
- Find Out More about Your Destination
Make sure you find out everything that you need to know about the destination that you are planning to visit. This also includes collating information about the local metro station (in case you’re traveling to a metro city), transportation facilities and the popular tourist spots that must be explored. You can also seek the help of social media websites like Facebook and Instagram to find out what other travelers have to say about your preferred destination. Also, when in doubt you can just Google for directions or more information. Another quick tip for solo travelers- “When in Rome, do as the Romans do!” So, when you embark on your trip and reach your destination, don’t behave awkwardly or in a manner that is not acceptable to the locals. In fact, just focus on enjoying and discovering more about the place.
- Have Conversations with Yourself
Have you seen the Bollywood movie Queen in which the protagonist Kangna Renaut chooses to travel to Paris all alone after her fiancé ditches her just a couple of days ahead of their marriage. This movie has motivated many people, especially girls to travel alone. In the movie, the actress discovers her own identity and learns much about life, friendship and traveling without a partner. She gains a completely new perspective about living life on her own terms and enjoying to the fullest. Even I have traveled solo on many occasions and have found the idea to be excellent in many ways, which is exactly why I would recommend every traveler to travel solo at least once in their entire lifetime.
- Hang out time
Travelling solo doesn’t imply that you will have no one to give you company. If required, you can book yourself along with a tour group so that you get the company of other people too. You can also socialize at the hotels or the vacation rental accommodations that you choose for yourself.
- Capture the Moments
Don’t forget to make your camera your best friend on solo trips. This would give you plenty of opportunities to capture every single moment or scene that you would like to carry back home along with you. Besides, every time you’ll be in a mood to refresh your memory, you could go through the pictures and feel glad about your solo journey. Another good option would be to carry your selfie stick. This way you’ll also get to click some of your own pictures.
- Embrace the solo life
Make a list of all those things that you would want to enjoy now that you’ve decided to travel all by yourself. This could include things like partying hard until dawn, dating a random person or even enjoying a movie with a bucket full of popcorns. The bottom line is that you need to enjoy and have a blast. Remember, freedom is one of the most awesome feelings in the world and this is your chance to let go and live a little. So, when and where are you planning your next trip all alone?
