Planetside 2 will attract the Xbox crowd to the PlayStation 4, according to Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley.
Speaking to IGN, Smedley made an impressive namedrop comparison for the free-to-play shooter MMO.
“We believe that Planetside 2 is going to be the massively multiplayer Halo for PlayStation 4, so we want to bring a completely new kind of gameplay to a completely new audience,” he said.
Smedley also emphasised that SOE isn’t planning to poach from its own player base – Established Planetside 2 fans on PC are expected to stick to their platform of choice. At this point, the publisher cannot confirm character transfers will ever be made available between the two platforms.
Planetside 2 is coming to PS4 sometime in 2014.
