Around this time of year I start to daydream about going on vacation to somewhere warm and beautiful. I’ve never been to Cyprus, but it is on my bucket list of places that I would love to visit and explore as a family. It is also a top destination for many Italian families since it is so close to Italy!
A special thanks to First Choice who have contributed this excellent top 5 list of places to visit in Cyprus for the perfect family vacation.
…. I’m ready to go!
Due to the myriad of sights and spectacles that Cyprus has to offer, scores of holidaymakers come here every year. From sleepy coastal villages to culturally rich cities, every inch of this Mediterranean island boasts something novel and unique.
For that reason, it’s perfect for families. With so many activities and attractions to take advantage of, there’s no danger of kids getting bored. What’s more, older children, teenagers and even adults can enjoy this particular destination’s countless highlights.
If you’re interested in visiting Cyprus with the family, you can visit the island with First Choice. Here’s what you simply cannot afford to miss out on.
Visiting a water park
Regardless of where you are staying in Cyprus, there’s bound to be a water park nearby. This is a terrific day out for the whole family. Kids will thoroughly enjoy going down the slides and flumes numerous times, while adults can simply relax and unwind by the pool. The pick of the bunch is arguably Aphrodite Water Park, situated in 35,000 square metres of natural landscaped grounds.
Learning about history
Although children will like being away from school while on holiday, that doesn’t mean to say they can’t have fun and learn something at the same time. The Archaeological Museum in Nicosia is perfect for little historians; whereas the UNESCO listed Choirokitia Village provides a glimpse into how a Neolithic community lived.
Discovering some animals and wildlife
If your offspring are a little too young to go scuba diving and explore the marine life that lives in the water surrounding Cyprus, there are several of other opportunities to get up close and personal with some fascinating creatures. You can visit the Park of Birds and Animals in Pafos or the Donkey Sanctuary in Vouni.
Taking in a festival
Due to its close relationship with religion, art, history and culture, Cyprus hosts a number of annual festivals, which both young and old are sure to love. Arguably the most energetic and entertaining event is Carnival, which takes place in late February or early March and features decorated floats, colourful costumes and lively parades.
Going to the beach
It might sound obvious, but heading to the beach with a few games can provide more than enough pleasure and amusement for children of all ages. Not only does Cyprus have some of the cleanest beaches in Europe, the weather stays warm all year round too.
Families heading to Cyprus on holiday are spoilt for choice in terms of things to do.
The only problem you’ll encounter is trying to fit it all in!
