Pitt : Miami (FL) - the Team Pitt Cannot Beat

By Kipper @pghsportsforum
Do you know what time it is, Panther fans? It's Hurricane Week, not to be confused with Hurricane Season. Though it sure does seem like it. At least, that is what history states. On Friday of this week, the Miami (FL) Hurricanes will be the opponent for your Pitt Panthers, in what marks Pitt's final regular season contest of the 2015 regular season. The U has experienced a rough season, firing head coach Al Golden after its seventh game, a 58-0 trouncing at the hands of #6 Clemson. The defeat marked the worst loss in the 90-year history of Miami (FL) football. The bright spot is, interim coach Larry Scott is 3-1, since. That does not mean the Hurricanes are going to be a cakewalk for the Panthers. In fact, history says otherwise. Prior to the 2014 victory in Coral Gables, Pitt had an 8-game losing streak in the series. What is more eye-opening is Pitt has not defeated Miami (FL) at home since September 18, 1997, at Pitt Stadium. Pitt won, 21-17. Quick, name Miami's coach that season! Miami (FL) has never lost at Heinz Field, boasting a perfect 4-0 record. Pitt was supposed to dominate this team in the 2013 match up, but the Hurricanes, in the cold weather and snow flurries before the game, toppled Pitt, 41-31. This year, Pitt clearly looks like the better team. The Panthers are 8-3 on the year, including 6-1 in the ACC. Head coach Pat Narduzzi is shining in his inaugural season. The offense is efficient, led by the rushing attack. The defense has improved since 2014. The question is, which Pitt team will show up on Friday? Is history going to repeat itself against these same Miami (FL) Hurricanes? If the Panthers aren't ready, Hurricane Season might begin early for 2016.
