ACC announces early season football game times and TV schedule
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Pitt's 2014 football season opener against Delaware at Heinz Field on Saturday, Aug. 30 has been set for a Noon kickoff, as released by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The contest between Pitt and Delaware will be one of 10 early season games to air on ESPN3, while the league will also have 19 nationally televised games during the first three weeks of the season.
The Panthers will play their first primetime game of the season on Friday, Sept. 5 when Pitt travels to Boston College for a nationally televised ACC clash on ESPN at 7 p.m. Pitt and BC will be the second ACC game of the season as Miami plays at Louisville on Labor Day.
Because non-conference away games are not under ACC jurisdiction, Pitt's third game of the season at FIU is still TBA.
The ACC will also have five Thursday night conference games televised on ESPN, beginning with Pitt hosting Virginia Tech on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
The 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game, which will be played for the fifth consecutive year in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, and will have a nationally televised kickoff time of either 7:45 p.m. (on ESPN) or 8 p.m. ET (on ABC).
Once again, the conference will have a syndicated package on the ACC Network which will air in 100+ markets and a package on the Regional Sports Networks (RSN) that will be in an average 71 million homes.
Ticket packages for the 2014 Pitt football season can be purchased online or by calling (800) 643-PITT (7488). Fans can choose from a wide array of options to accommodate as many different ticket preferences and requests as possible. Options include season-ticket packages for as low as $100, three-game mini-packages as well as single-game tickets."
Great to see the opener now has a time. I believe Delaware is going to be a good opening test for Pittsburgh. The Blue Hens are a strong FCS team that is consistently a strong performer. I expect them to give the Panthers a game. Hopefully Pitt will not be sleep walking again, like how they lost to Youngstown State, recently.
