Pita Pit, Cyberhub, Gurgaon: Pita Revolution

By Indian Food Freak @IFoodFreak

Pita Pit - Cyber Hub My love for subway started during my brief stay at Thailand where I got bored of eating meats and seafood all the time. Subway was light and comforting. Since then it was been on my list of occasional eat outs, however the intention has never been to take it as a light food. For last many years the menu has remained the same and there is no innovation. Lately my friend introduced me to Pita Pit and here’s why I have shifted loyalty.

Pita SandwichPita bread is a leavened wheat bread popular in Mediterranean cuisine. The pita is steamed again to freshen it up and filled with variety of fillings and meat of one’s choice. To be precise I saw 18 fillings of veggies instead of 8 at Subway. Topped with option of hummus, babaganoush and tzatziki, choice of 11 sauces and it is then folded like a roll. The sub that though freshly baked can fill one up with the bread while at Pita Pit it is the veggies and meat protein that goes in instead on empty calories.

Pita Pit is a popular chain headquartered in Canada with many franchised operations all over the world.

SouthWestChick_melt_CDN_newOf the option of three cheeses sprinkled on top, feta fails to leave the mark. Feta should be fresh but at Pita Pit the crumbly and the freshness is missing. Also the hummus was too fine for my liking and as per the franchisee it was just a bad day. The chicken caeser with smoked chicken & bacon, and chicken crave with ham were equally good, but I felt the overall choice are limited including options in mutton and fish.

saladWhat really impresses is the salad. It is freshness in every bite. For almost Rs400 including extra meat, it is an ample healthy meal for two normal sized people. I would like a smaller portion which serves an individual.

I ended my meal with oatmeal cookie (35) and the carrot cake (50). Was the meal good enough to end my long relationship with Subway? Perhaps yes, but only time will tell.
