Deal is for 3/26. I have reportedly up there because I can't believe Nova would sign for less than 9 million a year. Even if you aren't particularly high on the guy this looks like quite a bargain. Assuming this is true good job Pirates.
Looks official. Rumors suggest Pirates are still pursuing Quintana but I think that remains a long shot. Even so I like the team how it is right now. Nova is a nice boost to the middle of the rotation. I'd like to see them add another starter though. My pick is probably Travis Wood. He's been a reliever lately but is reportedly looking for a starting opportunity and I think he'd slot in well at the back of the rotation. As an added bonus he can swing the bat pretty well for a pitcher.
Wow. I too am surprised at the contract. There was talk of him commanding $12 mil per year based on the market. I'm glad we signed him. I'd still love to get Quintana as well.
