Pirates Acquire Sean Rodriguez

The Pirates traded for Sean Rodriguez and DFA'd Gaby Sanchez. Rodriguez isn't anything special but he can play a lot of different positions and has a solid bat. He will make for a very nice utility player on the bench however with Gaby being DFA'd I have to wonder if they are planning on making him the RH half of the 1B platoon and if that is the plan I don't like this move one bit. As a utility player and at least something of a backup plan for Josh Harrison at 3B he is a solid add but as a lefty masher for 1B, Gaby would be a better alternative. Hopefully we hear something about them acquiring someone like Kyle Blanks or Corey Hart soon or even resigning Gaby for a lesser amount than he would have gotten in arb.
