Pineapple Kesari for Babies

Kesari is a sweet suji halwa that is quite popular in Indian homes. It’s not just easy to make, it’s also quite versatile! You can change the flavor by adding a variety of fruits to it. Adding pineapple puree to the kesari gives it a wonderful flavor and aroma and can also be served to  babies. The pineapple here acts as a natural sweetener, so there’s no need of adding sugar to the halwa. This pineapple kesari can be given to babies after 8 months.

Kesari is a common sweet in Indian homes and can be flavored with any fruit. This Pineapple Kesari for babies is perfect for little ones over 8 months.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon suji / semolina
  • ¼ cup chopped ripe pineapple
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon almond powder
  • Pinch of cinnamon powder or cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon ghee

Method:

1. In a sauce pan add water and pineapple chunks and boil until for 3-4 minutes or until the pineapple is well cooked.

2. Puree this mixture and keep aside.

3. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and fry the suji on a low flame until aromatic.

4. Add the warm pineapple puree to the roasted suji and stir well so that no lumps are formed. Cook for 1-2 minutes and put off the flame.

5. Flavor the kesari with almond powder and cardamom powder or cinnamon powder.

6. Stir well. Serve the kesari to the baby while still warm.
