Pinback Played Music Hall of Williamsburg [photos]

Opened by a first act that could only be described as wildly unconventional, Pinback drew a heavy crowd to Music Hall of Williamsburg for their only New York stop this tour. For this, Rob Crow & Co. were rewarded handsomely in applause, more or less from the moment they took the stage. Then, Crow proceeded to give the perhaps more-than-normally soused St. Patty’s crowd a metaphorical nod by pouring himself a cup of Jameson before opening the set. From there, Pinback proceeded to wholly tear it up, with Crow and Smith dueling ephemeral singing parts and rivetingly precise licks, while they were lined by projected rounds of duotone, pseudoscience newsreels. The set was dotted with old and new alike, a distinction seemingly wasted on a crowd who knew all the words regardless.
