Last Friday - accompanied by a periodic soundtrack of flights taking off from the runway of the neighbouring Edinburgh Airport - I spent the day at Gardening Scotland. Along with thousands of other people, I was there to admire displays of perfect blooms and to wonder and marvel at the skill of the nurseries who grew the plants.
