Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet & Dry Epilator review

Summer is here and you know what that means… hair removal! When I was in my mid teens going through puberty, I was a super hairy Asian believe it or not. My mom bought me my very first epilator when I was 16 after trying shaving/waxing and HATED it. Since then I’ve only used epilators on my legs. Back then technology was not as advanced as these days so when Philips contacted me and asked if I would like to try their Satinelle Advanced Wet & Dry Epilator, I said yes immediately!

Oh by the way, if you don’t know what an epilator is – in very simple terms it’s a gadget with tiny tweezers to help remove the entire hair including the roots.

The Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet and Dry Epilator comes with 5 additional accessories to help remove any unwanted facial and delicate areas:

  • Shaving head
  • Trimming comb
  • Facial area cap
  • Delicate area cap
  • Massage cap

It also comes with a basic pouch for you to store the epilator, accessories and a cleaning brush.

When I first picked up my Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet and Dry Epilator, I put it on charge for 1.5hrs. After charging, it can be used up to 40mins before the battery runs out. There’s a battery indicator at the bottom of the handle that shows you when it’s fully charged or requires charging. The device comes with 2 speeds for you to adjust depending on how fast you want to remove those pesky hairs! One of the awesome features is the opti-light to ensure all hairs are removed. The device needs to be held at 90 degrees for best performance.

I mainly use epilators to remove hair on my legs and I don’t feel much pain or irritation because I’ve been using it for a really long time (10yrs+ so I don’t give away my age haha). If it’s your first time with an epilator, you might feel some pain and/or irritation but it won’t last long. I decided to try the Philips Epilator on my underarms too and you guessed right, it hurts like anything on the first go!! After my second time, the pain was no longer as intense.

The Philips Epilator is cordless so you can practically remove hair anywhere you want (in the toilet or even the backyard). Another advantage of this epilator is it can be used in the shower or bath! Almost forgot to mention that using the epilator in the shower will help reduce any pain or irritation as the warm water will open up the pores.

As an epilator veteran, I highly recommend to exfoliate once a week because occasionally epilating can cause ingrown hairs. But to be honest, it’s no biggie. Depending on your hair growth, I usually epilate my legs once every 3 weeks or sometimes 4 when I’m lazy.

To summarise what I like:

  • Can be used wet or dry
  • Cordless functionality – you can literally remove hair anywhere you want
  • The opti-light

The Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet and Dry Epilator retails for $149.95 and you can read more about it on the Philips site.
