Broad Street. And the streets were full all over. A city as one. A city united. The air was a perfect cold and the streets smelled like beer and sulfur. Fireworks were high above and unfortunately on the ground level also. Lampposts slowly began to fall as the riot police were approaching at a steady pace from a far distance. This game was not won by a single man but an entire team effort. An entire fan effort!
Two days later the paper streamed down from the sky as the Phillies made their way from 20th and Market... all down
South Broad Street... to Citizens Bank Park. The pavements overflowed in the streets as the police officers in cars, vans, bikes, helicopters, horses, foot, and where ever else they could appear to control the excited and anticipating crowds. Pat the Bat led the way followed by an awesome team. Even the Dolphin Tavern closed down because they ran out of beer and that my friend is a rarity. We are the Philadelphia Phillies and we are the 2008 World Series Champions.
